Apply for the Washtenaw County Black Farmers Fund

After a successful first fundraising round, the WCBFF coalition is preparing to disburse funds to current or aspiring Black Farmers that live, work, or serve Washtenaw County!  We are interested in those who are starting, maintaining, or growing a food-producing farm!

The application for funds will be released on January 1, 2022. We want to provide individualized support for applicants throughout the process. If you are interested in applying for the fund, please fill out the Interest Form below.

 WCBFF Funding Process 

Step 1: Check if you're eligible to apply

  • Are you a person living in, working in, or serving Washtenaw County, Michigan?

  • Do you identify as Black?*

  • Will the funds be used to support starting, maintaining, or growing a farm?

If you said yes to all questions, you are eligible to apply!​

Step 2: Fill out the Interest Form 

This can be done either...

  • Online - Scroll down and complete 

  • By phone - Text or call (734) 508-2162‬ (M-F 10-4 PM)

Step 3: We will contact you

We will reach out to you within two weeks of receiving your Interest Form to provide individual assistance preparing and applying for funds. 

Step 4: Complete the application

Applications will open January 1, 2022. Please complete and submit your application by March 31, 2022. Awardees will be announced on April 15, 2022. 

*We recognize and honor everyone's right to self identify. In using the term "Black" we are referring to those Americans who, due to intergenerational racism, have had limited access to capital and land as a result of enslavement, racial violence, racial discrimination and racialized poverty.
