
Washtenaw County Black Farmers Fund:
2025 Emergency Mini-Grant Application
In response to the ongoing political disinvestment in Black farmers—manifested through frozen federal funds and systemic neglect—the WCBFF is offering emergency mini-grants of up to $5,000. These grants aim to provide immediate relief to Black farmers and food system workers in Washtenaw County facing urgent challenges that threaten their operations and contributions to the local food system.​
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must meet all the following conditions:

Residency: Operate or reside in Washtenaw County, Michigan.​

Identity: Identify as Black.​

Engagement: Be actively involved in farming or food system work that contributes to the Washtenaw County foodshed.​

Emergency Need: Be experiencing an acute emergency impacting the ability to operate effectively (e.g., equipment failure, climate-related crop loss, theft, infrastructure damage).​
Application Deadline: May 31, 2025
Notification of Awards: June 19, 2025 (Juneteenth)
